How to Make Your Old Wooden Furniture Look New Again

Purchasing a new furniture may not be practical for other people, especially those who bought their old furniture in a high price.

But for others, buying a new set or piece of furniture could be a good investment and it gives them satisfaction, whenever they use the furniture.

However, throwing or replacing an old functional furniture couldn't be a good idea for many people who have tight budget. So, I thought of sharing a few thoughts on how can you make your old furniture look new again.

Here's a few ways to make your old wooden furniture look new again:


1. Check-up the furniture

Wooden furniture could last for quite a bit of time, especially when the material is solid wood. But for wooden particles, usually they don't last for long period of time. On this first step, you'd want to know whether the material of your furniture is either solid wood or wooden particles.

If the material is wooden particles, there's not much point of refurbishing it, 'cos it will most likely gonna break sooner than the normal time, without repairing it. However, when the material is solid wood, then that's a good sign, which means you can repair it, especially if it needs some minor repairing.

2. Repairing the furniture

Minor issues with furniture are easy to do, usually you don't need to ask an expert to come and fix it. But what is minor furniture issues? Most of the time furniture like chairs, table, and bed, have broken legs and sqicky sound, which are easy to repair on your own using your tools.

3. Finishing

Once you have repair the minor issues of your furniture the next thing you need to do is to finish your furniture using sandpapers. And there are a few different types of sandpaper that you can use to make the surface of your furniture smooth. 4. Painting or Varnishing

Having a nicely colored furniture is becoming a trend, especially for cozy home interior design. When you think you want to paint your furniture, make sure to purchase the right color, you can visit a paint shop to consult, and give you a few different shades of color that you want. And don't forget to tell that you'll need to use for your specific wooden furniture.

If you think you are skilled, you can used an airbrush to paint your furniture. Airbrush has better result than the traditional way of painting.

Meanwhile, varnishing is easier than painting. There are 2 main types of varnish. One has thin texture and dark brown color. And the other one is thicker thick texture, glossy and crystal color. After applying the 1st varnish, the latter varnish gives better result(shiny and new look), especially when it's properly applied on the furniture.
